Exposing Deliberate Pollution of the English Language: Spinspeak Rots the Mind.

“Bury forever what some Neanderthals call the language of reality. We know that breeds nothing but envy and hate and fear and conflict. Bring home the language of happiness. We know that brings all of us together in a great multi-cultural bouillabaisse...”

  • --Spinmeister-in-Chief Marvin Runnymede, Ultimate Severance
  • “Too bad about his terrible accident. Always hard on da family.”

  • --Mobster Joey “the Boy” Lasagna, Ultimate Severance

  • Some Latest Spinspeak Mintings for the Spinspeak II Supplement:

Never Call Retreat; Call It Change of Direction

Here for spin lexicographers is a guide to what to call continuing demands by liberal left politicians and their fellow travelers for early pull out of American troops from Iraq.

Both those who want withdrawal at a date certain and those who want withdrawal in the vague near future call it “change in direction.” Opponents of a date certain call that “cut and run.” Opponents of the vague near future call that “cut and jog” or “cut and crawl.”

Advocates of withdrawal would transfer the troops “over the horizon” which turns out to be Okinawa.

Spinmeisters during the Viet Nam War called retreat “strategic withdrawal.” During the Korean War and World II, it was more realistically called “bug out.”

In the American Wild West, retreat was called “leaking out of the landscape.”

    Don’t Spin, Just Obfuscate

All dedicated spinmeisters must pause from their labors and stand in awe of the following quote:

I know you believe you understand what you think I said, but I am not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.

This profundity has been attributed to Former Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan, a true Master of Fog. But that is fallacious. He apparently never said it.

Although he might have. And some insist they heard him say it. But even if they did, it certainly was not what he meant.
